Dive Into the Making of 'Freaks & Beaks'

A lot can happen in 15 years. Back in 2005, Claude VonStroke created a small underground record label called Dirtybird. What began as a free party, turned basement record label, has morphed into a truly thriving community whose fun, familial vibe has won over hearts and minds across the world.

To kick off the birthday celebrations, VonStroke has collaborated with Fannypack Films to produce a fly on the wall docuseries following the creation of his new album, Freaks & Beaks, out February 21st. The intimate episodes offer a deep dive into his daily life on the road.

New Music by the Boss, Claude VonStroke

Wet your beak before VonStroke releases his new album, with a brand-spankin' double single featuring two very different tracks. It's always been important to the Claudefather that he show a range of sound, and this EP demonstrates the breadth of dance music explored on the record.

The A-side is a massive, mega club banger. You'd never guess it, but the vocal on "All My People In The House" comes from the artist's 11 year old daughter. "I ran her through a pitch shifter that makes her sound like a 33 year old woman who smokes two packs a day," he said. Meanwhile, the B-Side "Youngblood" is a collaboration with Wyatt Marshall, an up-and-coming Los Angeles talent who co-hosts The Birdhouse radio program on SiriusXM. Simply put, it's a vibe.

Freaks, We Salute You!

To commemorate the 15 year birthday of Dirtybird, we've been digging through photos to produce a coffee table book of all the good times. It's 12x12, like a vinyl record, and you can get the box set which includes the new Claude VonStroke album, Freaks & Beaks, in a triple gatefold as well as a special edition sticker pack and three prints by Jeremy Fish who did artwork. With only 1000 copies in publication, it's super limited edition, so pre-save your copy before the street date on February 21st.

Clocking in at 300 pages, it walks through the history of the label, features tons of fun party pics, and displays artwork reprinted from some of the best surrealists in the world. If you're digging the album art, cop a tee which is the first item from our seasonal clothing line, on-sale now.

Experience the Visual Art of Dirtybird

To commemorate 15 years of Dirtybird, in 2020 our goal is to dive deep into the storied past of the record label and events. As part of our birthday celebrations, we look forward to creating a DIRTYBIRD Art Gallery, showcasing select work from the label's history. It's been a long road to get where we are today, and we hope to conjure up all of the memories formed along the way.
